Germany allowed the introduction of punitive duties on American gas

Germany may impose punitive duties on gas from the United States if the pressure continues on the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project. This was stated by the head of the Bundestag Committee on energy, Klaus Ernst.

“If this is (US behavior in relation to the project) will finally not stop, we must consider serious measures to protect ourselves. For example, there may be punitive duties on US natural gas”

the MP said.

Thus, as noted, he answered the question about the draft law on sanctions against the “Nord stream-2.”

According to him, the behavior of the American side about the gas pipeline should no longer be understood as a generous act; it is an attack on the sovereignty of Germany and the European Union.

Earlier, the US Senate introduced a bill on sanctions against the project, which, according to Senator John Barrasso, is aimed at clarifying and expanding existing sanctions.

The State Duma, commenting on the introduction of the bill, noted that the US attempts to influence commercial relations between other countries to cause the opposite effect.
