General Motors withdraws from Trump’s lawsuit against California

The company agreed with Biden’s plan to expand the use of electric vehicles.

General Motors said it would no longer support the administration of Donald Trump in its legal attempts to revoke the right of California to set its own air cleanliness standards.

The company’s chief executive, Mary Barra, said in a letter to environmental organizations that General Motors is withdrawing from the lawsuit and encourages other automakers to follow suit.

According to her, the company agrees with President-elect Joe Biden’s plan to expand electric vehicles’ use.

Last week, the company announced that it is testing new battery chemistry that will lower the cost of electric vehicles to a level comparable to the cost of cars running on gasoline.
