Former UFC champion Cormier still announced his retirement after a fight with Miocic

A friend of Khabib Nurmagomedov acted contrary to the words of Dayna White.

Daniel Cormier announced his retirement after losing to heavyweight Stipe Miocic at UFC 252. However, on the eve of the fight, the head of promotion Dayna White said that, most likely, the former UFC champion in two weight categories will not retire.

“Stipe did an excellent job and caused me problems – I can’t see anything with my left eye. See nothing. I was surprised that he kept me in the clinch for so long. But still, losing two fights in a trilogy sucks.

As I said, this is my last fight. Good fight. It was a great way, but it was my last fight for the world title,” the 41-year-old Cormier said after the fight.

Cormier held out against Miocic all five rounds. The judges gave the victory to the opponent by unanimous decision.

This was their third match: Daniel won the first, Stipe took the remaining two.
