Former Secretary of state Powell expressed support for Biden

Powell said in an interview with CNN.

Former Secretary of state and former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell on Sunday supported democratic former Vice President Joe Biden running for President.

Powell became the first influential Republican to publicly support an opponent of Donald Trump before the November presidential election.
Powell, who led the US military during the Gulf war under Republican President George H. W. Bush and then the state Department under George W. Bush, said that Trump is an “ineffective” head of state and that the situation has only worsened under him.

Powell did not vote for Trump in 2016.

“There is no way I can support President trump this year,” Powell said in an interview with CNN.

Asked if he would vote for Biden, he replied: “I will vote for him.”
