Ford announced the end of sales in the European market for the Mondeo with a gasoline engine under the hood – now in the series there are hybrid and diesel versions.
Actually, after the transition of the European Union to the new standard for measuring efficiency (WLTP) and the modernization of Mondeo at the beginning of last year, only one petrol version with a 1.5-liter turbo “four” EcoBoost (165 hp) remained in the model range. At the same time, the demand for the Mondeo Hybrid with a 187-horsepower unit (gasoline engine 2.0, electric motor and variator) in the European market in the first seven months compared to the same period last year increased by 25%, and now the gasoline version accounts for about a third of all sales of the series.
Also, the range of available engines for the European Mondeo still includes a two-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel, available in three power options (120, 150 and 190 hp), with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. In the meantime, the company is preparing a new model to replace the current Mondeo series, which, judging by the spy shots, will turn out to be a raised station wagon in the spirit of the Subaru Outback model. Its premiere, if everything goes according to plan, will take place at the end of 2021.
