The Canadian women’s national football team won gold at the Olympic tournament in Tokyo, defeating the Swedish national team on penalties.

The meeting was postponed from Tokyo to Yokohama due to weather conditions. The main time of the match ended with a score of 1:1. The goal of the Swede Stena Blackstenius (34th minute) was answered by the Canadians with an accurate shot by Jessie Fleming from the penalty spot (67). No goals were scored in extra time. The penalty shootout with a score of 3-2 was won by the players of the Canadian national team.
