First Superman comic sold for a$ 3.25 million

One of the few copies of the first Superman comic was sold for a record price, CNBC reports.

Action Comics’ debut edition for the superhero was sold for $ 3.25 million in a private sale via an online auction. The seller of this lot purchased the edition in 2018 for just over $ 2 million.

The previous record for this comic was set at auction in 2014. Then it was sold for almost $ 3.2 million.

The comic, published in 1938, “is truly the forerunner of the superhero genre,” according to online auction director Vincent Zurzulo. It is noted that Superman first appeared in this issue. This issue also covered the origin of the character.

Zurzolo stressed that although hundreds of thousands of copies were originally published, according to experts, today there are only about a hundred units of the work, all of them in different states. He noted that this copy is one of the best-preserved.
