Fires engulf Northern and Southern California

Thousands of residents were evacuated.

Fires are raging in Northern and Southern California, forcing at least 50,000 residents to flee their homes.

The companies Pacific Gas and Electric has cut power to thousands of homes in an attempt to contain the spread of fires.
The company warns that more power outages could follow over the weekend.

According to the Associated Press, the power outage affected half a million people.

“Please follow the evacuation order,” Sonoma County Sheriff Mark Essick warned residents recently.

“We need to focus on fighting the spread of the flames rather than worrying about saving people,” he added.
