Firefighters: the construction of Notre Dame Cathedral probably saved from total destruction

The construction of Notre Dame de Paris, most likely, saved from complete destruction. This was reported on Monday citing a representative of the French fire services.

At least one firefighter was seriously injured in extinguishing the fire.

Previously the state Secretary of the Ministry of internal Affairs of France Laurent Nunez said that firefighters managed to reduce the intensity of the fire in the Cathedral, but the fighting is still going on.

According to preliminary data, the fire in the Cathedral occurred at about 18:50 at its upper levels and may be due to the repair work carried out there. As a result of the fire, the upper part of the spire, the clock of the Cathedral and most of the roof collapsed.
