FDA experts to discuss Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine on December 10

Usually, the Federal regulator follows its recommendations.

Invited experts from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will meet on December 10 to decide whether it is possible to use the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.

On Friday, November 20, Pfizer and BioNTech filed a corresponding application – this is the first application for certification of a vaccine that can potentially protect against COVID-19.

FDA chief Executive Stephen Hahn released a statement saying the FDA will review the application as quickly as possible, but he can’t predict when a decision will be made.

The FDA is not required to follow the recommendations of the experts involved but usually follows them.
