FDA: 55 brands of sanitizers are toxic and may lead to blindness

In the composition of more than fifty brands of hand sanitizers, there were found substances that are dangerous to the body. They can lead to blindness and even death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published a list of 55 brands of hand sanitizers that can be hazardous to our health. Almost all brands are made in Mexico. The agency also seized these funds from the sale.

The FDA added that consumers who used these sanitizers should immediately seek medical help. It contains harmful substances – including methanol, which in large quantities can lead to nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, blindness, convulsions, coma, irreversible damage to the nervous system or death. Children are at particular risk.

Earlier, the FDA found high levels of methanol in bottles with ITECH 361 All Clean Hand Sanitizer, Moisturizer and Disinfectant hand sanitizers and moisturizers. The agency warned that it could be fatal if it comes into contact with the skin or inside the body. After that, the FDA recalled the product from the sale and began checking the composition of other funds.

“All people using these products are at risk. But young children who may accidentally use them inside, as well as adolescents and adults who drink these products as a substitute for alcohol (ethanol), are at the greatest risk of methanol poisoning, ”the agency said.
