Famous TV host Oprah Winfrey told about the rape of a relative in childhood

The famous American TV presenter Oprah Winfrey told how she was raped by her cousin as a child. She spoke about the violence at the hands of a relative in Prince Harry’s new program The Me You Can’t See, reports The Daily Mail.

For the first time about the horrors of growing up in the family, she reported on the show in 1986, but in communication with Harry remembered the details of that period. Winfrey, 67, explained that the first time a 19-year-old cousin raped her was when she was nine. The presenter burst into tears, describing those events.

“He raped me at the age of 9, 10, 11, and 12. I didn’t know what rape was then. I definitely didn’t even know there was such a word. I had no understanding of what sex is, where children come from. I didn’t even realize what was happening to me. And I kept it a secret, ” Winfrey said.

According to the presenter, one of the memories of that period of violence is connected with how her first rapist, her own cousin, bought her ice cream after the incident. “And it became something that I just took for granted. That the girl is not safe in a world full of men, ” she concluded.

Earlier, Winfrey spoke openly about how she faced domestic violence as a child. According to the TV star, she was just a child when she first experienced violence. So, she remembered an unpleasant episode with her grandmother, who, as a punishment, whipped the child until it bled.
