Facebook will create a simulation of itself – with bots instead of real users. It is planned that the simulation will be as similar as possible to the original version of the social network – and the bots will imitate the behavior and comments of people. About it writes The Verge.
The “shadow” Facebook, as the publication calls it, as intended by the authors, should become a complete conceptual copy of the social network – moreover, it will be created on the basis of the code of the original version.
The main goal of the project is to search for bugs in the work of the social network. The company believes that bots will help them find them faster and more efficiently than real users.
In particular, engineers plan to check how easy it will be for fraud bots to get personal data of bot users and how updates will affect the availability of a particular scheme.
The publication compares the “shadow” Facebook with the universe of the series “World of the Wild West” (Westworld), in which anthropomorphic droids entertain people in the park of the same name. The project was even called WESworld.
