Facebook introduced rival TIkTok – social network for aspiring rappers BARS. While the application is in beta testing, it will soon be available to everyone.
Facebook R&D has unveiled yet another experimental music-related app. It is called BARS and is intended so that aspiring rappers can read out their lyrics in studio quality, apply the desired vocal effects and professional beats to it. If the user has a problem with the text – BARS will automatically suggest words for rhyme.
The application is equipped with audio and visual filters, as well as an auto-tuning function that users can use to create the final product. The app has a challenge mode in which users can freestyle about specific topics. As noted by TechCrunch, BARS is another attempt to impose competition on the popular social network TikTok.
Late last year, the NPE team released Collab, an experimental app that allows users to work on music videos without having to meet in person. The team told TechCrunch that the pandemic played a role in the creation of both apps.
Facebook has so far launched BARS as a closed beta for the iPhone, with the first videos uploaded by team members. The app is already available for download on the App Store, and interested rappers can download them to await the official release for all users.
