Facebook has postponed a decision on the fate of the Trump account

The Facebook administration said it would need more time to decide whether to ban or open access to the platform for former US President Donald Trump, the Associated Press reports.

Facebook applied to the Independent Counsel for the Supervision of Content in Social Networks in January. The authority must decide whether to unblock Trump’s account or leave it inactive.

“The board will announce its decision in the case of the indefinite suspension of former US President Trump from Facebook and Instagram in the coming weeks. We have extended the deadline for public comment on the case, having received more than 9,000 messages on the matter,”

the council said on Twitter.

Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube blocked Trump’s accounts for different periods of time because of his statements about the riots in Washington on January 6.
