EU leaders continue talks on economic recovery and budget

Angela Merkel did not rule out that the summit in Brussels may end without reaching an agreement.

Sunday was the third day of talks between EU leaders, who are trying to agree on a large-scale recovery plan for the economy affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and an unprecedented multi-year budget of $ 2 trillion.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that the summit of 27 leaders could end without an agreement.

“I can’t say whether a decision will be made,” Merkel said, arriving for an extra day of talks. – There is enormous goodwill, but there are also many different positions. I’ll join the work. But the result may not be achieved today.”
