EU countries finally agreed to start trade negotiations with the United States

France voted against, and Belgium abstained.

The countries of the European Union have finally completed the agreement on the mandate to conduct official trade negotiations with the United States.

According to it, the majority of EU countries voted for the beginning of this dialogue. Nevertheless, France voted against, and Belgium abstained. The talks will focus on the possibility of reducing duties on industrial goods and simplify the implementation of us standards for European companies.

Earlier, the US President Donald Trump confirmed plans to introduce duties on goods from the EU in response to EU subsidies to the aircraft manufacturer Airbus. He published the corresponding statement on his Twitter page, adding that this measure will affect imports from the EU in the amount of $11 billion.
