EU aims to end the pandemic in 2022

The EU’s goal is to accelerate the process of vaccination against coronavirus in the world and end the pandemic in 2022, an EU source told reporters after the G7 summit.

“The EU insisted (during the G7 summit) on the need to accelerate access to vaccines… There is a clear goal – to vaccinate the world population and end the pandemic in 2022,” he said.

The European Commission considers it possible to vaccinate 70% of the adult population in the European Union this summer, and it also seeks to accelerate the spread of COVID-19 vaccines around the world.

The European Union also claims to be the largest supplier of coronavirus vaccines to third countries, having already exported about 270 million doses of the drugs. The EU also intends to support the development of vaccine production in the world, for example, it wants to invest about 1 billion euros in the development of production in Africa.
