Ankara treats the statements of the Taliban movement that came to power in Afghanistan with cautious optimism. Still, everything will be decided by the actions of the Taliban, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said.
“So far, we are cautiously optimistic about the statements of the Taliban leaders. The processes in Afghanistan will be determined not by the statements of the Taliban but by the actions and steps that they will take. Turkey will continue to dialogue with all parties in Afghanistan,” Erdogan said, speaking in Bitlis province. The broadcast was carried out on the Turkish leader’s Twitter.
He added that Turkey, as a country that has opened its doors to more than 5 million refugees, cannot accept the additional burden of migration from Syria or Afghanistan.
