During the telephone talks between the presidents of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the United States Donald trump, the Turkish leader proposed to his American counterpart to create a joint working group to resolve the existing differences on the supply of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.
“President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks with US President Donald Trump today. The leaders exchanged views on Syria and agreed to continue close cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Our President raised the issue of establishing a working group for the supply of systems S-400”, – reads the statement of the presidential administration of Turkey.
Earlier, Erdogan announced Turkey’s intention to strengthen its security, including through the acquisition of Russia’s anti-aircraft missile systems S-400. This statement was made on Saturday against the backdrop of continued pressure from Washington, which requires Ankara to abandon the acquisition of Russian S-400 systems.
