Erdogan announced the launch of Russian-Turkish production of S-500

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Moscow and Ankara will be able to start joint production of air defense system s-500, writes Haber Turk. He also assured that the purchase of S-400 will begin on time.

At the same time, the politician expressed confidence that the US will start supplying F-35 aircraft to Turkey, despite the purchase of the S-400. “Sooner or later we will get the F-35. There is no option in which we will not receive it he said.

The contract for the supply of four S-400 systems to Turkey in the amount of about $2.5 billion was signed in July 2017. Deliveries were expected in March 2020, but later Ankara and Moscow agreed to speed up the process. The first S-400 complex will be sent to Turkey in July 2019.

American congressmen demanded that Turkey abandon the Russian S-400, threatening to cancel deliveries to the country F-35. Washington drew attention to the fact that the Russian S-400, unlike the American Patriot, is incompatible with the NATO air defense system.
