Elizabeth II invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to celebrate the anniversary of her reign

In 2022, several large-scale celebrations will take place in London at once: Elizabeth II will celebrate her platinum anniversary – the 70th anniversary of her reign on the royal throne, as well as her 96th birthday. According to sources close to the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the guest list.

The Mail on Sunday reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to take part in the Trooping the Color parade, which will be part of the anniversary celebrations. The question remains whether they will be admitted to the inner sanctum – the balcony of Buckingham Palace to take a seat alongside Elizabeth II and other acting royals on a traditional Royal Air Force flight.

This year and last year, a large-scale parade was canceled due to the dire epidemiological situation. According to social media at Buckingham Palace, in 2022, all events will take place according to the schedule. In previous years, the presence of all members of the royal family at such events was a mandatory tradition.

However, recently it was reported that the list of those taking part in official events could be significantly reduced and limited only to working family members, for which Prince Charles is actively advocating. There is no information yet whether Megan and Harry will remain on the “favorites list”.

According to a source from the palace: “This will be decided closer to the event itself. There are certain restrictions on how many people can go to the balcony. Definitely, next to the queen at such a moment there should be those who fulfill their royal duties. The presence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex there is a big question. ”

In 2012, Prince Andrew has already become a “victim” of such a sweep. According to sources, his name was then struck out by Prince Charles himself. Given his difficult relationship with his youngest son and repeated accusations by the royal family from Meghan and Harry, they may not have a place on the balcony.

The celebrations to mark the 70-year reign of Elizabeth II will last throughout 2022, but the highlight will be the weekend of June 2nd to 5th.
