Electronic Arts is again in a scandal. This time around, the topic of controversy was FIFA 21, as well as the employees who sell the advantage to other players.
FIFA has a FUT mode in which players can collect players from different teams into one squad, and then compete against each other in online tournaments. Football players can be obtained from “packs”, but they only come across at random, and in order to assemble a dream team, you need to be either wealthy or lucky.
In addition, among the usual sets there are also special ones – Icon Moments and Team of the Year. They contain legendary footballers like Maradona and Ronaldo, and with enhanced characteristics. Given these factors, the alleged Electronic Arts employee decided to sell specific characters to players.
Similar offers have been received by both regular gamers and professionals who make FIFA21 videos or participate in competitions. For the transaction, the seller only needs a PlayStation ID or EA user ID, as well as from € 750 to € 1000 in payment. After the players are credited to the transfer so that the player can buy them directly for in-game currency.
How exactly the enrollment is carried out is unknown. The seller chose not to disclose their method, citing security concerns. Still, doing this without access to EA databases is unlikely to work.
In a comment to VGC, an Electronic Arts spokesman said that the company had already launched an investigation and was preparing to deal with the violator if one was found:
“We are aware of allegations currently circulating in our community regarding FIFA21 Ultimate Team items. A thorough investigation is underway and if we find any misconduct, we will take immediate action. ”
