Nottinghamshire police arrived at Santander Bank in Stockwell Gate, Mansfield at 01:00 local time after a burglar alarm went off that detected an unauthorized access attempt. The officers were unable to immediately determine the whereabouts of the suspects until they decided to use the police drones with which they are equipped for such cases.
When the drones climbed to a sufficient height, they immediately began to signal that three suspects were found on the roof – thermal cameras were able to measure the temperature of the bodies of three suspects in the bank robbery.
Two men, 25 and 40 years old, respectively, and a woman, 31 years old, respectively, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and will remain in custody until the circumstances of the case are clarified and the necessary evidence is gathered.
Police say the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has also dedicated personnel and efforts to help officers get to the suspects in the bank robbery attempt. It is currently unknown whether the three suspects were in fact able to steal anything from the bank, or if their attempt was thwarted at an early stage.
