Djokovic: I want Nadal and Federer to keep playing for my motivation

The ATP#1 Serb Novak Djokovic spoke about his two main rivals – Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

“These two guys were my main rivals. Rafael Nadal and I have played more against each other than two other players in sports history. We played, I think, 55 times, maybe more. I also played against Roger Federer almost 50 times. I felt rivalry and tension from the very beginning. For 15 years, we have been pushing each other to the limit and improving each other. We need this rivalry because we have to measure ourselves in some way.

If they are doing well, it inspires and motivates me. When I started playing, Roger already had several Grand Slam titles. Rafa has, too, and they kicked my ass for the first five years. I lost most of my matches to them. And then everything changed, and after so many years, we continue to move forward. I want these guys to keep playing because they are, without a doubt, one of the main sources of my motivation, ” Djokovic said in an interview with Tennis Head.
