Dior backed Johnny Depp after his high-profile court loss. The 57-year-old actor remains the face of the Sauvage fragrance, despite the fact that the nickname “The Wife Killer” has become firmly attached to him.
Johnny Depp has previously sued The Sun and its executive editor Dan Wootton. The Pirates of the Caribbean star accused them of libel for an article describing his beatings and bullying of ex-wife Amber Heard.
After the loss, Depp’s reputation is badly damaged, as is his career. He was already fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, where Johnny played the role of Grindelwald.
More recently, a commercial for the men’s perfume Dior Sauvage was shown on British TV. Depp’s appearance on the screen caused bewilderment.
A spokesman for the UK Advertising Standards Authority said it had received more than a dozen complaints about the ad.
“At the same time, the applicants believed that Johnny Depp should not be in the advertisement because of the details regarding his recent court case,” the official said.
Public relations agent Mark Bokowski also claims Dior should fire Depp. He stated that it would be “smart” for the company and that “everything can be stopped if they really wanted to.”
The actor himself, following the results of the trial, announced that he would appeal. He called the court decision “surreal”.
“My resolve remains firm and I intend to prove that the charges against me are false. My life and career will not be determined by this moment in time, ”– quotes Depp as the LADbible edition.
