Democrats have caused the US Ambassador to the EU in the Congress for testimony, despite the refusal of the state Department

Gordon Sondland was scheduled to meet on October 16.

WASHINGTON – Democrats of the House of Representatives of the US Congress summoned the US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland to testify in the impeachment proceedings of the head of the White House Donald Trump. Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Sondland, through his lawyer, notified congressmen that he would not come to the hearings scheduled for Tuesday. The lawyer’s letter clarifies that the diplomat was ready for the meeting, but was instructed to do so by his leadership at the state Department.

In the morning, we learned from the Ambassador’s lawyers that the state Department left a message that the administration did not allow him to appear [at the hearing], ” said a statement issued Tuesday by the chairmen of the intelligence select Committee Adam Schiff, the oversight and government reform committees Elijah Cummings and foreign Affairs Eliot Engel. We call the Ambassador to the testimony and the provision of documents”.

Sondland was scheduled to meet on October 16. “In accordance with the House of Representatives investigation [impeachment] subpoena oblige you to appear for testimony on October 16 at 09: 30, as well as to provide supporting documents by October 14,” – said in the text.
