“Delta” strain does not cause severe COVID-19 in children

Fears that the new strain of coronavirus is more dangerous than other mutations and causes a more severe form of the disease among adolescents turned out to be unfounded, according to a press release posted on the portal MedicalXpress.

The article notes that specialists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States analyzed medical records across the country.

They studied the medical histories of ten percent of the population. The case analysis covers the period from March 1, 2020, to August 14, 2021.

The results of the study indicate that after the spread of the “delta” strain, the percentage of children with severe symptoms differs only slightly from the indicators in the period before the appearance of the “delta” variant and does not reach the level of statistical significance.
