According to experts, 23 popular applications incorrectly processed user data due to incomplete synchronization with cloud databases.
Applications where the error was found:
- Screen Recorder,
- Astro Guru,
- Logo Maker,
The number of downloads of these applications on Google Play ranges from 10,000 to 10 million. Some Android developers do not follow basic security techniques to restrict access to the application’s database.
This created an opportunity for leaks of a wide variety of personal data of users: from passwords and messages from chats to geolocation and browser history.
The problem, the researchers note, has not been resolved in most applications. Users are advised to remove potentially dangerous software.
