Cracks found on the Russian MSC module

On the ISS, cracks were found in the Russian Zarya module.

Vladimir Soloviev, General Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, said that blind cracks were found on the oldest ISS module, Zarya.

In his opinion, cracks will begin to spread over time and this is not a point problem: all systems of the Russian segment of the ISS are now at a high degree of wear.

In words, everyone convinces that nothing will break, but they do not put signatures on the document. At the end of July, a meeting of the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of Roscosmos was held, where it was noted that the station was on its way.

Earlier in 2020, cracks were found in the Zvezda module. Later they were repaired, but the oxygen leak did not stop, although it decreased.

Soloviev added that now 80% of the systems of the Zvezda module have exceeded the warranty period. At the meeting of the Council of Chief Designers, no one gave a guarantee that after 2025 the station equipment would not fail.

The ISS Russian Segment now includes five modules: Zarya, Zvezda, Poisk, Rassvet and Nauka.
