COVID-19: the United States has become the leader in the number of fatalities

For a long time, Italy was the center of the coronavirus pandemic in the world and the leader in the number of deaths. On April 11, the most infected and dead people were in the United States.

This is evidenced by data from the research center for systems science and engineering (CASE) at Johns Hopkins University (USA). In total, since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 1.7 million people have become infected, more than 108,000 people have died, and more than 400,000 have recovered.

In the United States, the number of cases of coronavirus is more than 522 thousand, more than 20 thousand people died, and almost 30 thousand recovered. More than a third of deaths occur in the state of New York (783 people died there per day).

In Italy, 19,468 patients with coronavirus died (+619 people per day). For several days, the number of deaths in Italy fell, and the number of intensive care patients decreased (by 116 people). In total, the country has more than 152 thousand infected (the third place in the world), more than 32.5 thousand patients have recovered.

In Spain, which has surpassed the number of infected people in Italy, about 160 thousand people have been infected since the beginning of the epidemic, almost 16.5 thousand have died, and 59 thousand have recovered.

In Russia, more than 15.7 thousand infected people were registered, 130 died and more than 1.2 thousand recovered. In Ukraine-more than 2.7 thousand infected, 83 died and 89 recovered, in Poland-6.3 thousand infected, 208 died and 375 recovered, in Lithuania — more than 1 thousand infected, 23 died and 54 recovered, in Latvia — 630 infected, 3 died and 16 recovered.
