COVID-19 high-threat zone has re-emerged in China

Shulan City County in the North-Eastern province of Jilin is recognized as a high-risk area of COVID-19 after infecting 11 people, according to the press service of the provincial administration.

Mi Feng, the official representative of the state health Committee of China, said on Sunday that a case of local group infection was again recorded in China on May 9. During the day, 12 local infections were reported across the country, one in Wuhan, and 11 in Jilin province, which was the highest number since March 11. All cases in Jilin province are members of the same family and individuals who have had close contact with them.

“On May 7, one local case of infection was detected in the city of Shulan, and on May 9, 11, more cases were detected. By the state standards for determining the epidemiological situation, Jilin province increases the level of epidemiological threat to the city of Shulan from medium to high,” the published report says.

Earlier on Sunday, the epidemic threat level in the Dongxihu District of Wuhan, where there have been no new cases of the infection since the beginning of April, was raised from low to high after the city identified one new case of disease, as well as 16 asymptomatic carriers.

The level of epidemiological threat associated with the spread of coronavirus in all regions of China has become low since May 7 after the authorities of the border with Russia province of Heilongjiang in the North-East of the country lowered the level of the region to low; there were no regions with medium and high threat levels in the country.
