Earlier, the congressmen sent a letter to the US Secretary of State, in which they demanded that he provide lawmakers with documents relating to Donald Trump’s contacts with Vladimir Zelensky.
US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo does not comply with the requirements of lawmakers to provide the necessary documents in the framework of the impeachment proceedings initiated in the House of Representatives of the US Congress of President Donald Trump. This was announced on Sunday on CBS Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the lower house of the legislature Eliot Engel (Democrat from New York).
“He [the Secretary of state] has not yet complied with the requirements of the investigation. They [State Department diplomats] are engaged in ongoing consultations with lawmakers, and we hope that he [the Secretary of state] will comply with these requirements,” Engel said.
On Saturday, while on an official visit to Athens, Pompeo said the State Department responded to a request by Democrats from the House of Representatives to provide documents relating to Trump’s contacts with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. At the same time, the Secretary of State did not specify what exactly was the reaction of the foreign Ministry to the request of the legislators.
