Compal, a major Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, has developed a curious concept laptop called the Spark: the device is suitable for both everyday work and play.
Compal notes that most laptop computers are equipped with membrane keyboards that are thinner. However, gamers often prefer mechanical switches, and therefore have to either purchase rather thick laptops, or buy an external mechanical keyboard.
Spark combines the advantages of two types of buttons. In standard operation, the user is dealing with keys with a travel of only 1.5 mm. In this state, the keyboard can be used for typing text, editing tables, etc.
In game mode, the block with the W, A, S and D buttons moves 15 degrees in relation to the main field of the keyboard. In this case, the travel of the buttons for this module increases to 4 mm. Thanks to this design, control comfort in games is significantly increased and feedback is improved.
However, while Spark exists only in the form of a conceptual development. Whether such a laptop will hit the commercial market is not clear.
