CNN: the US will send a warship to the Black sea in response to the conflict in the Kerch Strait

The US can send a warship to the Black sea because of the conflict in the Kerch Strait, CNN reports citing sources.

The US armed forces asked the state Department to warn Turkey about the possible transfer of the vessel through the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles, connecting the Black sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Two CNN sources noted that the notice is intended to give the U.S. Navy the right to send a ship to the Black sea, but this right will not necessarily be used.
The last time the US Navy vessel entered the Black sea in August 2018. It was a landing ship USNS Carson City (T-EPF 7).

Earlier, CNN reported that the American destroyer passed near the Gulf of Peter the Great in the Sea of Japan. Thus, the ship challenged” excessive claims ” of Russia on the waters lying further than 12 nautical miles from the Russian coast, the US Pacific fleet said. The Americans have not undertaken such operations since 1987, CNN notes.
