Chronicle of the coronavirus: Italy remains the leader in mortality

According to data on the morning of April 5, more than 1.2 million cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the world, the number of deaths exceeded 64 thousand people, and more than 247 thousand people recovered, according to data from the research center for systems science and engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (USA).

The leader in the number of confirmed cases in the United States — 312 thousand people, more than 8.4 thousand people died. US President Donald Trump has sent thousands of troops to New York, which is a hotbed of the pandemic, to help local authorities.

In Europe, the leader in the number of infected is Spain (126.1 thousand people), in second place Italy (124.1 thousand people), in third Germany (96 thousand people), in fourth France (90.8 thousand people).
China, where the pandemic began, fell back to sixth place in the number of cases of infection — 82 thousand people, of which 77.1 thousand people recovered.

Italy is still the leader in the death rate of those infected with coronavirus: 15.3 thousand people. But the second place is Spain-11.9 thousand people; the third is the United States (8.4 thousand people).
Among our neighbors, the most difficult situation is in Russia: 4,731 cases of infection were recorded, 43 people died, and 333 recovered. Most regions of the country have introduced a regime of self-isolation for the entire population. You can go outside to get food and medicine, take out the trash or walk the dog — no further than 100 m from the house.

In Poland, 3,267 cases of infection, 79 people died, and 116 recovered. In Ukraine, 1225 infected, 32 people died, 25 recovered. In Lithuania, there are 811 cases of infection, 11 people died, and 7 recovered. In Latvia, 509 cases of coronavirus infection, 1 person died and one recovered.
