For nearly a decade, Chris Evans has played Steve Rogers / Captain America in Marvel films. Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the biggest franchise in pop culture. Despite the love of the audience, films about superheroes do not receive awards.
In an interview with Deadline about his work on Apple TV + “Defending Jacob,” Chris Evans raised the topic of injustice in the awards:
‘If you remove the word “Marvel” from the title of these films, remove the recognizable link to the comics, but keep the characters and the plot, you will see that there are huge thoughts and considerations in the films. As such, they will be praised by critics. I am not saying that everyone deserves an award. But I have to admit that Marvel has some really impressive films.’
In recent years, there have been signs that the Academy of Cinematography is indeed slowly opening up to blockbusters, but they still have a long way to go before superhero films begin to compete on equal terms for the Oscars.
