Donald Trump’s cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was not originally planned by director Chris Columbus. The 62-year-old filmmaker spoke about the sequel to the 1992 Christmas blockbuster Home Alone in an interview with Insider, recalling how he wanted to film a scene in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel, which was owned by a 74-year-old businessman at the time.
“Trump said everything is fine. We paid a fee, but he also said, “The only way to use the Plaza is if I’m in the picture.” And he made his way to the movies, ” said Chris.
At the very first show, according to the director, a strange thing happened: the audience was delighted to notice Trump in the episode. Therefore, the scene was not cut out.
Trump has starred in numerous episodes in films such as Little Rascals, The Companion, and The Model Boy. One of the films that Donald eventually missed was the 1992 film Scent of a Woman, directed by Martin Brest.
A few years ago, actor Matt Damon, having heard about the history of the film, also confirmed this Trump rule: if the shooting takes place in one of his buildings, he should get a role. Therefore, Brest made a cameo in the film: the character of Al Pacino even greets Donald. But then the scene was deleted.
