Qin Gang became the 11th Chinese Ambassador to the United States.
The new Chinese ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, has arrived in Washington. This is stated in a statement published on the night of Wednesday to Thursday by the Chinese Embassy in the United States.
“On July 28, 2021, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the United States, Qin Gang, arrived in the United States to take up his official duties,” the document says.
It is indicated that 55-year-old Qin Gang became the 11th ambassador of China to the United States. He replaced 68-year-old Cui Tiankai, appointed China’s ambassador to the United States in April 2013. In June, the Chinese Embassy in the United States announced that Cui Tiankai would soon leave his post and return to his homeland.
Qin Gang was born in March 1966 in Tianjin and had been working in the structure of the Chinese Foreign Ministry since 1988. In 2002-2005, he served as an adviser to the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom; in 2005-2010, he was deputy head of the Information and Press Department and an official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. In 2010-2011, he was an envoy of the Chinese Embassy in the UK; in 2011-2014, he headed the information and press department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and also served as an official representative of the foreign ministry. From 2014-2017, he was an assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and headed the protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; since 2018, he has been held Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
