Earlier, the official representative of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, said that Iran had enriched uranium to 20% at the nuclear facility in Fordo. Iran has also ratified the law “Strategic Measure to lift Sanctions” initiated by the parliament, which involves uranium production with an enrichment level of 20% or higher. A representative of the US State Department told that the US considers Iran’s decision to be nuclear blackmail.
“The primary task at the moment is to help the United States without any conditions immediately begin to implement the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, as well as to lift all relevant sanctions, create conditions for the restoration and return to the agreement,” Hua Chunying said at a briefing.
She stressed that the current situation around the Iranian nuclear issue is very complex and sensitive.
“The Chinese side calls on all parties to maintain calm and restraint, adhere to the consensus on the implementation of the JCPOA, refrain from actions that could lead to an escalation of the situation, and leave space for diplomatic efforts,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.
The nuclear deal requires Iran to enrich uranium at 3.67%, but Tehran abandoned restrictions related to the level of enrichment a year ago, raising enrichment to a level above 4%.
