China notes the importance of Veto Power in the UN Security Council

The veto power in the UN Security Council is a manifestation of special responsibility for ensuring international peace borne by the permanent states of the Security Council, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijiang on Friday.

“The UN Charter provides for a veto for permanent members of the Security Council, this demonstrates the special responsibility of the Security Council members in protecting international peace and security. As a permanent member of the Security Council, China has a cautious and responsible position on the application of the veto, will continue to follow this principle.” – said Zhao Lijian.
