In the Chinese Yangao district of Datong city, according to the source, the construction of a test line for magnetic levitation trains with speeds of up to 1000 km/h has begun.
According to the source, the tests will take place in three stages on lines 2 km, 5 km and 15 km long. The peculiarity of the project is that the train moves in a tube with a partial vacuum.
After testing the train on a special section of the road, experts plan to create a magnetic suspension that will accelerate the transport up to 3000 and even 4000 km/h. The train will move faster than an airliner, at about the speed of a pistol bullet, traveling 300 meters per second.
In order to reduce the operating costs of high-speed magnetic suspension trains, the power supply of electromagnets will be realized using the effects of superconductivity.
A pilot line has already been built in China to test the concept using relatively inexpensive liquid nitrogen for cooling. Trains with travel speeds of 1,000 km/h or more are likely to be operational by the end of this decade.
