Chinese authorities have temporarily suspended importing products from American poultry producer and processor Wayne Farms and Indonesian aquatic products manufacturer PT. Anugerah Mina Sejahtera after the coronavirus was detected on imported goods from these enterprises. This was announced on Saturday by the General Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the agency, positive samples of COVID-19 were found on one package of a batch of frozen chicken paws imported from the United States. The import of Wayne Farms products (registration number P445) will be suspended for one week from today.
Also, the coronavirus was detected on two packages of a batch of frozen squid imported from Indonesia. The import of PT. Anugerah Mina Sejahtera (CR 424-12) products will be suspended for four weeks starting today.
On Friday, at the opening of the 4th session of the National People’s Congress (NPC, the highest legislative body) of the 13th convocation, a report on the work of the Government of the People’s Republic of China was published, which said that China would continue to make active efforts to prevent the import of infection from outside and prevent its re-spread inside the country.
