The General customs administration of China allowed the supply of rice from the United States, said in a statement published on Friday on the Agency’s website.
“This notice comes into force on the date of its publication and indicates permission to import products from the United States to China,” the Department said. The measures apply “on brown rice, cleaned rice and broken rice”.
The document notes that the process of production and supply of grain “must comply with the phytosanitary Protocol in force between the two countries”, which was signed on July 19, 2017 in Washington.
China opened its rice market in 2001 after joining the WTO. The lack of phytosanitary Protocol between China and the United States prevented the establishment of supplies.
