China congratulates Biden and Harris on election victory

Beijing did it a few days later than many other countries.

China finally on Friday congratulated Joe Biden on winning the election, making it a few days later than many other countries.

“We respect the choice of the American people,” Chinese foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular news conference. “We congratulate Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris.”

“At the same time, we understand that the results of the US election will be confirmed in accordance with the law and procedure,” the representative added.

Earlier, the Chinese foreign Ministry said only that it “took note” of Biden’s victory statement.

Chinese foreign policy analysts called this position cautious, given that President Trump did not admit defeat.
