CAS cancelles the disqualification of Manchester City in the Champions League

The Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) on its official website announced a verdict in the case of the removal of Manchester City from the Champions League.

It was decided to cancel the disqualification of the English club. At the same time, the penalty was reduced from € 30 million to € 10 million.

Recall that UEFA disqualified MC of the European Cups for violating the financial fair play. The club was accused of financial fraud with sponsorship contracts. The initial term for the removal of the team was two seasons, but the Mancunians appealed the decision of the organization. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the trial was delayed, and the verdict was postponed until July.

In the current Champions League, Manchester City in the first match of the 1/8 finals away defeated Real Madrid with a score of 2: 1. The return game will be held in August.
