BAE Systems is building the T-650 quadrocopter with a payload capacity of up to 300 kg.
BAE Systems and Malloy Aeronautics have shown the concept of the T-650 electric cargo quadcopter, which can carry up to 300 km of cargo and fly at a speed of 140 km/h.
The drone can fly up to 30 km with a load without recharging, and without a load up to 80 km. The model can move either by itself or under the control of operators.
The size and weight of the drone is unknown, but it is noted that its body will be made of lightweight carbon fiber. When transporting the drone, the propeller beams can be removed. The simplified design and large screws are designed to maximize energy efficiency.
Flight tests are expected to begin in the second half of next year.
The companies noted that the development may be of interest to the military, as well as civilian customers. The drone will be able to evacuate people from the disaster area or deliver airstrikes.
