California residents are ordered not to leave their homes

The Governor of the state expresses fears that more than half of the residents may be infected with the new coronavirus.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered all 40 million residents of the state to stay at home, restricting all optional travel in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus, which threatens to overload the medical system.

“This is a moment when you need to make difficult decisions,” Newsom said. – We must accept reality.”

According to the Governor, the restrictions are imposed for an “indefinite period”.

It is allowed to go for a walk and do physical exercises, as well as for necessities – food and medicine. You can also order home-cooked meals from the restaurant.

The Governor also announced that he would mobilize 500 National Guard troops, but only for humanitarian purposes: they can help with food distribution.

Earlier, Newsom asked the President to send a floating Navy hospital to the coast of California to expand the capacity of the health system, and warned that the new coronavirus could infect more than half of the state’s residents.

According to Newsom, in some areas, the number of infected people doubles every four hours. Over the next eight weeks, 56 percent of Californians may become infected.
