California has introduced mandatory vaccination for teachers and school staff

Earlier, some large school districts of the state introduced similar rules.

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that all teachers and school staff in the state would have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly tests for the virus.

California is the only state that has introduced such a requirement.

“We believe that this is the right step and a reliable way to prevent school closures and solve the main problem faced by parents of young children, including myself,” Newsom said.

Some large school districts in California have previously adopted similar rules for teachers amid the rapid spread of the “Delta” option in the most populous state in the country.

Recently, Newsom also introduced mandatory vaccination for medical workers, and they do not have the opportunity to replace the vaccination with regular tests.

Civil servants are also required to get vaccinated or take a weekly coronavirus test.
