The former President and former first lady released a statement amid protests over the death of George Floyd.
Against the backdrop of events after the death of George Floyd, former US President George W Bush said that he and his wife, Laura, “are alarmed by the injustice and fear that is suffocating the country.”
According to the Bush couple, they felt that this was not their time to speak out, but rather that they should listen.
“It remains a glaring failure that many African-Americans, especially young African-American men, are being harassed and threatened in their own country,” Bush said in a statement.
The former President and former first lady said they consider the peaceful marches a boon for the country.
